Lazib Inn Resort & Spa

Lazib Inn is a boutique resort on a hillside at the edge of Tunis Village, the pottery village above the southwestern shore of Lake Qarun in Fayoum. Olivier and Nanette Masson founded it in 2015, and it is roughly a two-hour drive from central Cairo. Popular day trips include the lakes and waterfalls of Wadi El Rayan and the fossil whale skeletons of Wadi Al Hitan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The resort has 21 suites in six categories. They are decorated with local handmade carpets and pieces from the owners' own art collection, and several have a fireplace, a private terrace or a balcony over the gardens and the lake. Meals are served at the Blue Donkey Restaurant and the lakeside IL Lago Restaurant, and drinks at the pool bar, either indoors or on the terrace.

There are three outdoor pools, two for families and one for adults only, all looking over the lake. At the foot of the hill, the spa has a Turkish hammam, a steam bath, massage rooms and an outdoor jacuzzi. A gym and a games room with billiards round out the facilities, and the hotel can arrange felucca rides on Lake Qarun.
