About Marriott Mena House, Cairo
Mena House began in 1869 as a royal hunting lodge at the foot of the Giza plateau, and it is still the closest hotel to the Great Pyramid. From many rooms, and from the pool, the pyramid fills the view.
The historic palace wing keeps its mashrabiya screens, carved wood and tiled halls. Around it are forty acres of gardens, with the garden wing rooms opening onto them.
Dinner is at Al Rubayyat for Egyptian and Middle Eastern cooking, at 139 Pavilion on the terrace facing the pyramids, or at the Indian restaurant. The Grand Egyptian Museum is ten minutes away by car.
